Making it Alive

In this series, I explore what life is in itself by questioning the concepts of symbiosis, parasitism and coexistence. Using sculptures with artificial motor movements, I explore Berkeley's philosophy of "To be is to be perceived". I am also interested in the blurred line between life and non-life, where the transition seems more like a chemical gradient than a sharp distinction. I try to find another form of existence by combining inorganic materials with organic matter, and I invite people to see living things as "parasites" of the inanimate. Finally, I explore the possibility of reviving degraded ecosystems through the use of fungi and highlight the importance of finding ways to restore the ecosystems we have damaged.
