Touch screen

Stinky and Touch Screen are two small autonomous robotic organisms that move freely through space and stage contradictory behaviours. Touch Screen approaches visitors, gently bumps into them, and displays the question “Do you love me?” on its LCD interface. Stinky, meanwhile, performs the opposite role: it avoids contact, emits irregular sounds, and paradoxically attracts more attention by trying to hide. Together they form a micro choreographic system of desire, avoidance, noise, and emotional miscommunication. Their behaviours emerge from simple code loops that generate hesitation, repetition, and inconsistent reactions. The work explores how machines simulate affection, fear, and social tension, making their dysfunctions part of their personality. The pair operates as a small-scale study of emotional contradiction, humour, and technical fragility within a shared environment.
